Improving UK Waste Management Practices: Procurement specifications

The effective management of waste is critical to achieving the sustainability aspirations of commercial property owners and occupiers.  Yet it is widely accepted that the accuracy, consistency and transparency of waste data is questionable, hindering its use to inform improved performance.

The Procurement Specifications have been developed by the BBP Managing Agents Partnership in collaboration with leading waste management service providers, with the intention of encouraging consistency and standardisation across the industry and promoting best-practice.

This document provides simple guidance to support those procuring waste management services. It sets out service provisions, which can be integrated into waste management contracts, with the aim of improving reporting, management and performance from an environmental, social and economic perspective.
