Single Ply Training Options

SPRA offers high quality specialist training programmes leading to the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Waterproofing Systems – Single Ply Membrane Systems.  SPRA can also offer assessment for levels 2 to 6 (craft through to supervisor and manager).  Our members benefit from reduced rates and CITB registered companies can also access CITB grants.

SPRA also works with membrane members to approve their training for the Basic Competency Programme (BCP) which can be the first step to an Experienced Worker installer achieving a full level 2 Single Ply vocational qualification.

The following diagram shows typical routes for installers to achieve a Level 2 qualification and access a blue Skilled worker card.

Level 2 Vocational Qualification (VQ) Applied Waterproof Membranes – Single Ply Roofing

SPRA supports the achievement of vocational qualifications in single ply waterproofing. SPRA offers three routes for achievement of the L2 Single Ply qualification and the choice of route will depend on the level of experience and competence of the operative:

Specialist Applied-Skills Programme (SAP)

A new entrant with no previous experience in construction.

Specialist Upskilling Programme (SUP)

Operatives with construction experience and some knowledge of Single Ply Roofing.

On Site Assessment and Training (OSAT)

Experienced Single Ply Roofing operatives.

When registering an operative for a VQ; a training provider will usually carry out a pre-course interview to assess and profile the operative’s existing skills and assign them to the appropriate training route.
