Welcome to the first SPRA newsletter of 2018 – I hope everyone had a happy and relaxing break and are now, like me, raring to go! I am excited about 2018 and am looking forward to pursuing as many opportunities as possible to promote SPRA, it’s members and our quite fantastic products and services. I will have a particular focus on getting to know more main contractors and specifiers – contact made with some in 2017 demonstrated some lack of knowledge about SPRA, but also their willingness and eagerness to understand and implement SPRA guidance once they were aware of its existence!
I already have thoughts on who I shall be contacting, but I would also like to give SPRA members the opportunity to submit suggestions of key people in our industry that you think should be approached. Please email me in confidence on cathie.clarke@spra.co.uk.
Jim’s Jotter features this week of course – but for the whole of 2018, this will now appear on a fortnightly basis. I am sure you will appreciate the commitment required to produce an article each week – and quite frankly I have been amazed at how Jim has been able to find such a fantastic array of subject areas that are always relevant, often serious, frequently entertaining and which play an important interface between SPRA members and industry.
SPRA single ply training and NVQ – Make sure your new trainees get on site and get qualified! Time is running out for gaining maximum CITB grant for registered companies on our Specialist Applied-Skills (formerly Apprenticeship) Programme (SAP). We must have 8 trainees to run this course, so if you haven’t booked – contact Mark Thornton, the SPRA Training Manager or email mailto:training@spra.co.uknow to do so!
SPRA conference and Awards – Early bird bookings are now being taken for the SPRA conference 2018, and we are also hoping to see lots of Awards submissions dropping through the website for the SPRA awards. Don’t leave it till the last minute, or to anyone else – it’s so easy to enter and so much to gain!
SPRA Golf – we are finalising venue details this week – and early bird bookings will be open next week, so start planning your four-balls and look out for the notification soon.
Christmas and New Year Competition – did you see the note in the last Weekly news of 2017..? We’ve hidden 10 red coloured helmets around the SPRA website ‘open access’ pages! Open to all, we are offering a place at the SPRA conference and Awards Dinner to someone who can find all the helmets. This competition is open until the 26th of January 2018. In the case of a draw, SPRA will put names into a hat and the lucky winner will be informed in early February. Good luck!
